The Cadillac Championship tees off in less than 24 hours, but the tournament received some unfortunate news late Tuesday night when a star golfer withdrew from the tournament. It's the second of three signature PGA Tour events packed into a four-week period after the Masters and before the PGA Championship, a decision that drew the ire of golf fans. Before the field for the tournament was announced, Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Xander Schauffele and Robert MacIntyre all opted against playing. Now another star golfer is out of the mix, withdrawing from the tournament just two days before competition was scheduled to begin.

Instead he'll be replaced by Michael Thorbjornsen, the first alternate, who will tee off at 1:30 p.m. ET with Corey Conners. Thorbjornsen originally earned a spot in the signature event at Trump National Doral but got knocked out when Alex Fitzpatrick teamed with his brother to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and accepted membership on the Tour.
Brooks Koepka was the first alternate for PGA Tour events upon his return to the Tour, but after missing the cut at the Zurich Classic with teammate Shane Lowry last weekend he dropped to third, opening the door for Thorbjornsen to get back in.
