A graphic video currently circulating on social media has sparked a wave of misinformation regarding an incident during the ongoing IPL 2026 season. The clip, which shows a spectator bleeding from the face after being struck by a cricket ball in the stands, is being widely misattributed to young Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya during the recent match against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
However, a closer look at the footage and match timelines confirms that the incident actually occurred during the Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fixture held earlier this month on April 11, 2026. Misattribution on Social Media The confusion arose following Match 40 between Punjab and Rajasthan, where Priyansh Arya’s explosive batting once again made headlines. Several social media handles began sharing the injury clip, claiming it was the result of a powerful strike by Arya on Tuesday night. In reality, the video had already been present on the internet before the PBKS vs RR match took place.
It was posted on a day before (April 27) PBKS vs RR match (April 28) and also on the morning of the match day. The original incident took place during Match 17 of the season at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, when Shreyas Iyer was at the crease for Punjab Kings. It was one of Iyer's five sixes during that innings, a massive hit over the mid-wicket boundary, that sailed into the crowd and unfortunately struck a fan who was unable to react in time.

Despite a formidable total of 222/4, Punjab’s bowling attack struggled to contain the Royals' chase. Rajasthan's reply was ignited by a blistering 43 off 16 from young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and a poised half-century from Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Although Yuzvendra Chahal (3/36) triggered a mid-innings wobble, an unbeaten 77-run partnership between Donovan Ferreira (52*) and Shubham Dubey (31*) took the game away in the final overs, marking the first blemish on Punjab's otherwise dominant season record.
