FCOSS welcomes 50% social welfare top-up as cost of living rises

The Fiji Council of Social Services has welcomed the Government’s recent decision to increase social welfare support, saying it comes at a crucial time as families continue to struggle with the rising cost of living. FCOSS Executive Director Vani Catanasiga says she is pleased with the relief provided, as just two weeks ago they had raised concerns about escalating cost pressures due to increases in fuel prices. In an interview with fijivillage News, she says the approval of a 50 percent top-up in social welfare payments will alleviate some of the stress faced by families.
