"JioStar has rebranded ESPNcricinfo as Cricinfo as part of the operational transition following the merger between Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company in India. The website returns to the name it used when it was launched in 1993.
According to the company, the rebranding aligns with the terms agreed as part of the merger completed in November 2024. “We will continue building Cricinfo as a definitive destination for the most passionate cricket fans globally and it will remain true to its founding principles of serving cricket fans everywhere. The next phase of evolution will include AI-powered innovations to enhance our story-telling, which, as ever, will stay rooted in originality,” said Sambit Bal, editor-in-chief, Cricinfo. The platform will now operate under the Cricinfo name across its website and mobile applications. Users visiting espncricinfo.com or accessing existing bookmarks and links will continue to be redirected to the site without interruption.
Founded in 1993, Cricinfo has built a cricket archive spanning more than three decades and will continue to operate under its new branding."
