The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has just signed former FIJI Water Flying Fijian Ben Volavola to the main squad, boosting the Club’s flyhalf stocks ahead of the 2027 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season. They say Volavola returns home as one of Fiji's most experienced professional rugby players. The 48-capped Flying Fijian has enjoyed a distinguished career of 74 professional appearances across Super Rugby Pacific and Europe, representing clubs including the NSW Waratahs, Crusaders, Melbourne Rebels, Queensland Reds while also playing professionally in France for Racing 92 and England for Leicester Tigers. The Drua say Volavola brings valuable leadership, game management and professionalism to the Drua environment.
Volavola represented the Flying Fijians at the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, amassing 296 Test points during his international career. The veteran playmaker sits third on Fiji's all-time points-scoring list and is widely regarded as one of the nation's most accomplished fly-halves. Volavola says he is really excited to come back home with his family and join everyone at the club and help build a culture that brings even more success to the Drua. He says he is also excited to see all the fans, to play at home and mingle after the games during the season.
Fijian Drua General Manager Rugby Baden Stephenson says they are delighted to welcome Volavola back home to Fiji and into the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua family. Stephenson says Volavola's leadership, game management and professionalism will be invaluable to our young squad both on and off the field.
