Gannon, who took 42 Sheffield Shield wickets for WA last season, is one of six fresh faces in the Bulls’ 2026-27 roster, the others being wicketkeeper Dylan McLachlan, and rookies Oli Patterson, Steven Hogan, Tom Campbell and Charlie Lachmund. McLachlan, 27, has captained the Queensland Indigenous team for the past two years. Pace bowler Lachmund and batsman Hogan were members of the Australian side that reached the semi-finals of the last year’s ICC Under-19 World Cup. Batsman Campbell was a member of Australia’s 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup squad, while teenage left-arm Patterson secured his rookie deal after last season’s effort to earn a Brisbane Heat contract.
Previous pace-bowling rookies Tom Balkin and Jem Ryan have been elevated to full-time contracts. “We’re pleased to welcome some exciting talent to our list this season, with several of Australia’s most promising prospects joining us on a full-time basis,” Queensland Cricket general manager of high performance Bennett King said. “It is also a pleasure to welcome home Cameron Gannon, who has produced some excellent efforts for WA in recent seasons and will fill an important role for us across the year.” Six players – the retired Usman Khawaja, batsman Max Bryant, pace bowlers Gurinder Sandhu and Benji Floros, spinner Zanden Jeh and wicketkeeper Lachy Aitken – were not offered new contracts. “We are grateful for the commitment that each of the players have made to Queensland in the past,” King said. “We wish them every success for the future. We will monitor their performances and progress in the Queensland Premier Cricket competition across the summer.” Queensland Bulls squad: Xavier Bartlett (Gold Coast), Marnus Labuschagne (Redlands) and Michael Neser (Gold Coast), Tom Balkin (Toombul), Hugo Burdon (Gold Coast), Jack Clayton (UQ), Cameron Gannon (WA), Lachlan Hearne (Toombul), Hayden Kerr (Gold Coast), Angus Lovell (UQ), Dylan McLachlan (Valley), Jimmy Peirson (Redland), Matthew Renshaw (Toombul), Jem Ryan (Ipswich), Jack Sinfield (Redlands), Mark Steketee (Valley), Tom Straker (Valley), Mitchell Swepson (Sandgate-Redcliffe), Callum Vidler (Valley) Hugh Weibgen (Valley), Tom Whitney (Wests), Jack Wildermuth (Valley).
