Baatein Dil Se: Bobby Deol Reveals He Never Looked At Aryan As Shah Rukh Khan's Son; Here's Why - Exclusive

Bobby Deol is someone who knows exactly what it feels like to walk in someone else's shadow. As the son of legendary Dharmendra, the comparisons were always there. So when he sat down to work with Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, Bobby chose to see him differently from the very start. In a candid and deeply personal conversation on Times Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar's podcast Baatein Dil Se, Bobby opened up about his experience of working with Aryan on The Ba***ds Of Bollywood.

Bobby Deol Recalls Working With Aryan Khan In The Ba***ds Of Bollywood Bobby Deol began by speaking about the instant connection he felt with Aryan even before the show came along. He shared, "Ah, Aryan. I mean, it's just been amazing. I had interacted with Aryan a couple of years before that, at some party, and we chatted for half an hour.

I just felt this energy in him, this confidence, this intelligence or something. I just felt something about him when I spoke to him. And so that made me feel more confident that, yeah, I don't have to think too much." On being asked if he saw Aryan as himself or as Shah Rukh Khan's son, Bobby answered, "See, that's tough because I am Dharmendra's son. So obviously, people will first look at me as Dharmendra's son.

You know, they're not gonna look at me as Bobby Deol. It happens. Because I am in the same situation, I never looked at him as Shah Rukh Khan's son. I looked at him as someone who's in my situation and he's trying to get into this industry." Bobby then recalled the moment he knew Aryan was truly special as a director.

He sat with him for hours, listening to every detail of the show's vision. "When I met him and sat with him for seven, eight hours and heard the whole six, seven episodes. And the way he narrated it to me, I knew this kid is going to make something special because he knew the details of how he wanted the actors. He was performing every character, he was acting them out while narrating.

So I just felt that." The Animal actor also spoke about Aryan's perfectionist nature on set and how that relentless pushing actually made him a better performer. He revealed, "He made me do takes.

But he wanted what he wanted. And as an actor, it helps you because you suddenly realise, okay, are you capable of more? Sometimes you start having your own belief till someone keeps pushing you and then you realise, oh no, I didn't." Bobby wrapped up with high praise for Aryan's writing and direction, saying, "That's why when you see the show, every character has come out so well. Every character is written so well.

I mean, that's what makes a film, like a film like Sholay. Every character in that film is remembered, you know. And to achieve that is something amazing. It happens very rarely." Baatein Dil Se with Navika Kumar is now streaming on Times Now YouTube channel.
